03. Captain and Player Responsibilities
3.1 All players must register online at www.melbournenetball.com as an Individual Member with an Individual Account ("individual online account"), and all Teams must be registered online by Captains ("team account"). The team account and online team messageboard will be created by Melbourne Netball under the team name after a Captain registers their own individual online account and indicates that they are a Captain. It is the Captains responsibility to invite all current Players to join their online team account messageboard once notified by Melbourne Netball that their team messageboard has been created. The Captain shall be the administrator of their team account and online team messageboard.
3.2 Registration of a team account must occur prior to the commencement of the netball season. Registration of individual online accounts must occur by the second week of the netball season. Players who commence playing with Melbourne Netball either casually or as a regular player in a registered team after the second week of the netball season, must register an individual online account within 1 week of playing with a team in the Melbourne Netball competition. Note Melbourne Netball cannot guarantee insurance coverage or other benefits where an individual online account is not registered with Melbourne Netball. This requirement is in addition to all other requirements imposed by Melbourne Netball on Captains regarding registration of players and teams.
3.3 All information, notices and communications from Melbourne Netball for the teams throughout the season will be sent to the online team account messageboard, which will be linked to each team member's individual online account. Players are responsible for keeping up to date with all information, notices, and communications posted on their online team account messageboard by their Captain and Melbourne Netball and must check their online team messageboard on a regular basis.
3.4 All teams and players must ensure that their online account passwords remain confidential. Online account passwords are not to be used or shared with other parties. Breach of this rule will result in the offending player's online account being suspended or terminated, or the player being suspended from the netball competition for the season at the discretion of Melbourne Netball.
3.4 Captains are responsible for obtaining 7 Insurance Information Sheets and 7 copies of the By-Laws from Melbourne Netball website to distribute to each player at the commencement of every season. Captains are responsible for obtaining the sheets each time they register a new player throughout the season.
3.5 Upon registration and prior to the first game, the captain shall ensure that every player has a copy of, and has read and understood the sheets.
3.6 Upon registration and prior to the commencement of a team’s first game, the captain shall sign an undertaking to use his or her best endeavours to provide all new or substitute players throughout the season with a copy of the sheets, advise Melbourne Netball when a new or substitute player is playing, and advise Melbourne Netball when an inexperienced player is playing.
